Russia Lashes Out at NATO for Protecting Afghan Drug Production

The US refusal to destroy opium poppy crops in Afghanistan guarantees that raw drug sources there will be inviolable, leading to heavy drug use in Russia, the head of the Russian federal drug control agency said.

The amount of narcotics brought into Russia has increased two-fold since the beginning of the anti-terrorism operation in Afghanistan, Viktor Ivanov, Russian Federal Drug Control Service chief, said on Saturday.

“Afghan heroin amounts to 90% of all drugs sold in Russia. Annual supplies stand at 35 tonnes or 5 billion shots,” Ivanov said, as quoted by Interfax news agency.

At the same time, the Taliban’s share in Afghan drug production is minimal, Ivanov pointed out.

“Nevertheless, the NATO command has focused entirely on this minority producer and generously lets local Afghan authorities combat the remaining 99% of drug production,” he said.

It is high time to formally declare the phenomenal narcotics production in Afghanistan to be a threat to international peace and security, Ivanov said.

Viktor Ivanov warned that drugs production in Afghanistan is “a global factor destabilizing the situation in Russia as the target market and in Central Asia which has become a transit territory.”

Moreover, drug trafficking from Afghanistan energizes negative processes in the North Caucasus, Ivanov added. Drug availability in the region increased by eight times, and in the Russian republic of Dagestan by 60 times, noted Ivanov.

The federal drug control agency’s head stressed that drug trafficking growth causes a proportionate increase in terrorist attacks and other crimes in the North Caucasus.

According to the Federal Drug Control Service’s data, there are up to five million drug addicts in Russia and half of them are addicted to Afghan heroin.

Annually, tens of thousands people in Russia die due to drug addictions.

Obama Signs Patriot Act Extension: MSM and the Left Silent

The House and the Senate, behind the scenes of the healthcare fervor, quietly passed this bill with little oppostion and outrage. Democrats could have modified the Patriot Act, but didn’t.
Apparently without Bush, the Patriot Act is no longer Orwellian as Michael Moore would have it and the ACLU is now quietly voicing its differences. Even Obama criticized the Act’s compromise in 2006, but had no issue, as President, signing the identical Act he wanted reforms on.  In 2006, Obama stated on the Senate floor:
So, I will be supporting the Patriot Act compromise. But I urge my colleagues to continue working on ways to improve the civil liberties protections in the Patriot Act after it is reauthorized.
The Democrats had the numbers to make changes, but another civil war would have ensued.  In addition, it appears that when these controversial legislative pieces are passed by the Democrats, it makes it all better.  No more outrage from the MSM and the far-left, because the rules of war and engagement are clearly different because, you know, the Democrats are in charge.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the 23-year-old Nigerian accused of attempting to explode a plastic device aboard a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Friday, has told authorities that he traveled to Yemen to link up with al-Qaida operatives.
Lieberman admitted that in a Fox New interview that he was "not sure" whether the Nigerian succeeded in making contact with the individuals he "reached out to" in Yemen.
But "not sure" is good enough for Lieberman.
So, he says, it is time to start lobbing bombs -- lots of them. (Presumably, Lieberman is talking about more attacks than have already been taking place as part of a U.S./Yemen partnership that has seen Washington spend $66 million this year on security and military assistance to Yemeni counter-terrorist forces -- a project that most observers believe has included the use of U.S. warplanes, drones and/or cruise missiles in recent strikes against al Qaeda targets.)
Referencing his own travels to Yemen, and meetings with unnamed U.S. officials, the senator chirped:"Iraq was yesterday's war, Afghanistan is today's war. If we don't act preemptively, Yemen will be tomorrow's war."
Lieberman, whose refusal to serve in the military when he could have during the Vietnam era has never prevented him from spouting hawkish views so over-the-top that his wiser colleagues to keep him off committees that deal with issues of war and peace, seems to be unaware that "acting preemptively" in the manner he suggests, is an act of war.

Bank of America Gaming Government Loan Guarantees

I have long suspected that it was only a matter of time before banks began to adjust their Collection efforts to reflect Government Guarantees on their loan portfolios.
Simply put, imagine you are a bank with $100 billion in loans. Of this, $20 Billion is guaranteed by the government, $80 billion is your own money. If you managed the collection organization responsible for servicing this debt wouldn't you be just a wee bit tempted to make sure that your $80 billion was getting the priority?
This is no consipiracy theory discussion - these are cold hard facts supporting what any reasonable actor would do in the situtation. If the government is going to cover my losses on a portion of my loan portfolio I can damn well guarantee you I'd be moving my best collectors to the portfolio I'm responsible for. The government can have my new hires, my undesirables, my slow workers, etc...
I highly doubt that we'll ever hear about this, but this is yet another massive shift from the taxpayer to the banks.

Bill Gates: Lower World Population with Vaccines

During his recent TED talk, Bill Gates said that the world population is headed to 9 billion people. Then he said, “Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services—we could lower that perhaps ten or fifteen percent.”
I’m not sure what the nothing-to-see-here explanation is for Bill Gates’ theory that “new vaccines” can help lower the population of the world, but I thought about the incidents from the 1990s where the World Health Organization was providing a “tetanus vaccine” to poor girls and women (and just poor girls and women) that contained human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG). For those who don’t want to delve into that, in short, it was a World Health Organization experiment; a test of a vaccine against pregnancy.

Economic Recovery? Not So Fast

Troubled, taxpayer-owned insurance giant American International Group (AIG) reported a narrower fourth-quarter loss Friday, helped by easy year-over-year comparisons, but the company still lost nearly $9 billion in the most recent period, and shares sold off sharply. 

AIG recorded a net loss of $8.9 billion, or $65.51 a share, versus a loss of $61.7 billion, or $459 a share, in last year's fourth quarter, which was the widest quarterly loss in history. On an adjusted basis, the insurer's loss came to $7.2 billion, or $53.23 a share, against a year-ago loss of $38.5 billion, or $287.69 a share.

The company's domestic and foreign life insurance and retirement businesses swung back to profitability on a pre-tax operating income basis, as did the financial services division, but that was more than offset by write-downs and debt reductions, among other charges and red ink.

I don’t view the Economic Elite as a small group of men who meet in secrecy to control the world. They do feature elements of conspiracy and are clearly composed of secretive organizations like the  Bilderberg Group - this is not a conspiracy theory, this is a conspiracy fact - but as a whole the Economic Elite are primarily united by ideology. They’re made up of thousands of individuals who subscribe to an ideology of exploitation and the belief that wealth and resources need to be concentrated into the fewest hands possible (theirs), at the expense of the many.
That being said, there are some definite lead players in this group and it is important that we are not too vague and expose the individuals who publicly lead them. Focusing on the fundamental structure of the US economy, we have people like Hank Paulson, Tim Geithner, Ben Bernanke, Robert Rubin, Larry Summers, Alan Greenspan, Lloyd Blankfein, Jamie Dimon, John Mack, Vikram Pandit, John Thain, Hank Greenberg, Ken Lewis, John J. Castellani, Edward Yingling and Tom Donohue.
In total, the Economic Elite are made up of about 0.5% of the US population. At the center of this group is theBusiness Roundtable, an organization representing Fortune 500 CEOs that is also interlocked with several lead elite organizations. Most Americans have never heard of the Business Roundtable. However, in my analysis, it is the most influential and powerful Economic Elite organization.

Bernanke delivers blunt warning on U.S. debt

With uncharacteristic bluntness, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke warned Congress on Wednesday that the United States could soon face a debt crisis like the one in Greece, and declared that the central bank will not help legislators by printing money to pay for the ballooning federal debt.
Recent events in Europe, where Greece and other nations with large, unsustainable deficits like the United States are having increasing trouble selling their debt to investors, show that the U.S. is vulnerable to a sudden reversal of fortunes that would force taxpayers to pay higher interest rates on the debt, Mr. Bernanke said.
"It's not something that is 10 years away. It affects the markets currently," he told the House Financial Services Committee. "It is possible that bond markets will become worried about the sustainability [of yearly deficits over $1 trillion], and we may find ourselves facing higher interest rates even today."
It was some of the toughest rhetoric to date about the nation's fiscal and budgetary woes from the Fed chief, who faces a second round of questioning Thursday before a Senate panel.

US sponsors terrorists to overthrow Iran’s government again? Evidence suggests yes

Abdolmalek Rigi, leader of the assassination/terrorist group,Jundallah, was announced as captured by Iran’s government on February 23, 2010. Iran televised Mr. Rigi making a statementthat the US government funds Jundallah, provides weapons, and assists with logistical management.
Such testimony should be viewed skeptically, as Mr. Rigi’s honesty could certainly be compromised while a prisoner. However, the most important circumstantial evidence and history corroborate the conclusion that the US is engaged in state-sponsored terrorism to overthrow Iran’s government.
 
Let’s consider this evidence (additional documentation and summaries here, here, and here):
 
  1. Jundallah’s history of assassinations is not refuted, yet the US does not list this group as “terrorist.” This is a curious detail.
  2. The US passed the “Iran Freedom and Support Act” in 2006 to fund groups working to overthrow Iran’s government.
  3. Iran has claimed in the past that they arrested members of such groups who confess to US government funding and logistical support.
  4. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh, who broke the Mai Lai massacre story in Vietnam and Abu Ghraib torture scandal in Iraq, reports that the US dedicated $400 million to militant groups to overthrow Iran’s government, including Jundallah.
  5. US sponsorship of Jundallah has been confirmed and reported by Brian Ross of ABC News and the London Daily Telegraph.
  6. The US Voice of America (VoA) televised a phone interview with Mr. Rigi, introducing him as “leader of the Iranian people’s resistance movement” rather than a wanted terrorist for the complicity in killing over 50 people in various acts of terrorism and assassination.
  7. Most importantly, the history of the US with Iran’s government is the most likely predictor of the nature of present actions. The US overthrew Iran’s democratically-elected government in CIA Operation Ajax in 1953; installing the vicious and US-compliant dictator Shah Pahlavi who crushed democracy until he was deposed in 1979. The purpose of the US unlawful overthrow was Iran’s request to renegotiate existing oil contracts that provided Iran with only 15% of the profits.
  8. More history contextualizes the present: Iran refused US dictatorship in 1979; the US responded by supporting Iraq’s unlawful War of Aggression and invasion of Iran from 1980 to 1988. The US provided loans, intelligence, the US Navy destroyed Iranian oil platforms, and the US gave political approval of this grossly unlawful attack in the UN Security Council.
  9. For immediate history that extends into the present: US political “leaders” and colluding corporate media lie (yes, absolute lie is the accurate explanation) that Iranian President Ahmadinejad ever physically threatened Israel. This contrivance is the same kind of lying propaganda that preceded US unlawful attack on Iraq.
  10. Official US policy allows first-strike use of nuclear weapons against countries that could possibly threaten the US and/or our allies in the future. This policy is tailored to fit the above lying rhetoric of Iran threatening Israel.
  11. The US lies that Iran’s lawful and verified nuclear energy and medicine program is a threat of being a nuclear weapons program. This is a “Big Lie” or Orwellian degree. The US takes all available evidence and constructs rhetoric in complete contradiction, and with no supporting evidence.
  12. We know now that all claims to support war with Iraq were not only false, but known to be false at the time they were told.
  13. US overthrow of democracies and any other form of government has a long history.
  14. And remember, a US claim that Iran attacked the US is probably a false flag attack; an attack by the US to kill Americans to justify US attack on Iran.
US corporate media has been and is now infiltrated by hundreds of government assets to propagandize Americans to support US war policies. These programs have been exposed numerous times, including in official US Congress reports.
